Your Rooms, Your Colors!

Color the Vibes around
kyunki Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai

You might remember “King Khan” in Nerolac Ad telling about how your décor choice radiates your Personality. (“is ghar k log khana kaise khate honge”; “is ghar ka kutta kaisa hoga”) yes! You got this right.
Well now look at your walls (not that unmercifully), the cold, stark, unfortunate (dumb too, maybe), but not deaf walls, looking back at you with an intense emotion of being neglected. They have always allowed your mirror to hang upon them, safe and secure so that you could embellish yourselves (for a few selfies and some new DPs).
So now let’s get a little sympathetic with the ordinary plain painted bricks. Paint them not just with colors but also your heart. Let your guests know that your family is decent and sophisticated or crazy and witty just with a few brushes and paint cans.

Decorating homes in alliance with your choice of color is not only the Reflection of your Lifestyle but also gives a cool and cushy atmosphere that lasts long. What defines your personality? Pick your Decor Color accordingly.

High on Life- You are always talking and people likes to listen too. You love whatever comes in your life. You can always talk serious and make sense. Then go eco-friendly; go green! Green is the Color that brings Life to your life. Green shines with warmth and feeling of happiness. It promotes comfort and is the most restful color for the eyes. It is believed that in corporate world, green raises togetherness. And so does our office is painted Green. It boosts up the team spirits and motivates us to write blogs then. So go for kitchens, living rooms, office rooms or kids room, and let green harmonize its nature-effect all around. (P.S. saavan ke andhey ko sab haraa hi nazar aata hai #HindiProverb #SearchGoogle #SiddhuEffect #JLT)  But never overdo green or dark green, unless you are a greedy and jealous personality and you have no problems in flaunting it.

High on Hopes- You are one of a kind in your friend group who would always come up with Philosophical Statements that can’t be silenced by any damn logic in the World. You always tell yourself to let the invisible Light shine all around. Then your color is Yellow. Yellow is always uplifting and enlightening. The good thing is when you are tired of dealing with your “Masala Tins” in the Kitchen, the color yellow would always offer some sort of communication. It brightens one’s soul and spirit as well. The Sunny Color is ideal for Living Rooms, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Small Galleries and Spaces. It offers an inviting gesture. However, this color also denotes agitation and deceit. Infants and Babies are believed to cry more in a yellow room. Also, if you see yourself always shouting and short-tempered, you can blame this color around you. Excitingly in chemotherapy it is believed to purify bloods. So if yellow is your color, you might be hopeful in heads, but horrified in heart.

High on Energy- If your Good Morning starts at 5 and Good Night happens at 12, and you still see yourself energetic enough to jump and jog, then Red is the Color for you. Undoubtedly the color Red frames Passion and Love in minds, but being the color of Blood and Fire, it signifies Power and Adventure as well. In the entrance, Red leaves the First Impression of Energy, Vigor, Courage and Strength. Red is also considered as a color of good luck in Eastern Cultures. Hang your Paintings and Frames on Red walls and allow the Energies to remain Pumped up. However too much of Red can prove to be unhealthy and irritating. If affects the peace and harmony, if you sit for too long in a dark red colored room.

High on Keeping Calm- Breathing in & Breathing out! Is that what you prefer to Blaa-Blaa-Blaa Gossips? Guess what is the Color for you? The color is serene and calming. It has a relaxation effect
on the souls and when nothing goes, this color leads. The color is heavenly beautiful and raises faith and Positivity. And the color is (drum beats please!) BLUE. Bleed Blue in your living rooms, Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, kids room (especially if it’s a boy). The color blue denotes less of talking and more of wise speaking. It tells about the sincerity, honesty and trustworthiness one pursues. If you paint your walls blue, people would see you as Dependable and Reliable. But make sure, the blue you choose is not dark, as not just it makes the Room look smaller, but also brings sadness to mind. However in the Business World, Blue signifies Power and Responsibility. Go for a few warmer hues of Blue for home décor that are refreshing and rejuvenating. Paint your Walls blue and let the calming effect take over the lead.

High on Adventure- Its Sunday and when everyone else is Relaxing and Sleeping, you want to travel the world in a day. You call all your friends and prefer hanging out instead of an in-house party. You prefer risks to comfort. You love adventure and you dare life to scare you. For all these qualities, you win an extravagant Orange color for your walls. However don’t go for orange in bedrooms, it’s not a very attractive idea. But surely your Gym Room, Yoga Room, Exercising Room can be painted with Orange. In ancient cultures orange was believed to heal the lungs and increase energy levels. It signifies your assertiveness and determination. The good thing is you don’t mix your point of view with aggression and this Orange Color will surely reflect.

High on Style- You do feel Royalty around you and imagines the Imperial Treatment. You wish people around you should either remain quiet or respond only with a Yes or No. Your “Navaabi
Andaaz” is high and ambitious too. Well then, fall back to Ground because you’ll find your color only here. Purple, a modern color that gives a designer effect to the eyes. Mesmerizingly Royal, purple tells people about your dignity and devotion. It shows your Independency at work. Purple is so amazing that surprisingly you would feel like tasting the Royalty. Purple is beautiful color which shows Innovations, Luxury, Romance and Mystery.

So next time you Paint your Walls, remember to think about something that Reflects you and your personality. Try not to go for darker colors as it makes your room appear smaller and evokes sadness too. The color of your ceiling should also be lighter than the color of your walls. This will help the room look larger. Enjoy the colors you live in and make sure your guests enjoy them too. Embellish your walls with Painting, Canvases, Sculptures, Photo Frames and other Art Works. Self-Portrait

"For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life - the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value."

-Claude Monet-
The Driving Force behind Impressionism

A rustic pathway protected with the dark shadows of hanging branches. These shadows are disturbed with the favors of nature in the form of daylight. This daylight is mesmerizingly distributed around the floral arrangement that surrounds the pathway. An art work whose clean and floral fragrance can be felt!

A healthy treat painted on a white cloth. A fruit basket probably calling for breakfast. Apples and Grapes scattered beautifully inviting a satisfied meal. An art work, undoubtedly delicious! #StillLifeApplesandGrapes

Born on 14th November 1840 in Paris, Claude Monet, also known as Oscar-Claude Monet or Claude Oscar Monet was while a regular guy who wanted to earn a decent living for his family, was also a genius who made his name with Impressionism. The word Impressionism is derived from the title of his beautiful creation “Impression Sunrise”. The more artistic his thoughts were, less was his father’s support to creativity who wanted Claude to join the Grocery Business. But Claude had different dreams, different visions, which he wanted to express through colors and canvasses. He was sent to secondary school of Arts on 1st April 1851. Son of a Singer Mother who died when he was 16, he went to live with a widowed childless aunt, Marie-Jeanne Lecadre.

Monet’s Approach to Art-

In the initial school days, he became popular for his Charcoal Caricatures. He also started selling them at the age of 15 for 10 to 20 francs, which is equivalent to 672 to
The-Beach-At-Sainte-Adresse
1,344 Indian Rupees. He has also taken drawing lessons from Jacques-François Ochard, another 19th century well-known painter. Around 1856/1857 he met a fellow artist Eugène Boudin who taught him to use oil paints. Under his guidance he learnt the beautiful “En plein air” technique. In 1862, with Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Frédéric Bazille, and Alfred Sisley, he shared this new approach to art, painting the nature with broken color and rapid brushstrokes. This later came to be known as Impressionism. This technique was also used by many other French Impressionist Painters.

“En plein air”
The technique meaning “in the open air”, describes the act of painting outdoors of what the eyes actually sees. Claude, who never liked modern art and found traditional one boring, advocated painting in the natural light. He could nicely express perceptions before nature. Monet travelled to Paris to visit The Louvre (one of the world’s largest Museum and a historic Monument in Paris), where he witnessed painters copying from the old masters. But this was surely not Claude’s style. With his Painting Tools, he preferred sitting by a window and paint what his eyes actually saw. His style and attitude towards Nature was different. His vision towards Art was a unique one. He would never mind breaking the Painterly Traditions to create an artistic approach. He was an atheist and loved painting his wife and family. He also painted his wife on bed the day she died because of tuberculosis.

Madame Monet and Child
Monet was gifted with close observation intellects and naturalistic representation. Though his two wives, former Camille and later Alice, were his beloved models, he would also gather Random Subjects from whatever comes around and fill his paintings with Vibrant and Unmediated use of Colors. Not just his Subject, but also the colors would look alive. He would add Brightness and tones of Shadows in his work. (Only through his Brushes and Paints and not the shortcuts of Photoshop).

Monet’s Series
-

While many would just know painting the sky blue and grass green, Monet believed in painting nature at different time zones and different weather conditions. He also painted different series of work. Haystacks, one of his Series was painted from different points of view and at different times of the day. Fifteen of the paintings were exhibited at the Galerie Durand-Ruel in 1891. In 1892, he produced what probably is his best-known series, twenty-six views of Rouen Cathedral. In these paintings only a portion of façade could be seen on the canvas. The paintings do not focus on the grand medieval building, but on the play of light and shade across its surface. Other series include Poplars, Mornings on the Seine, and the Water Lilies that were painted on his property at Giverny. He also painted landmarks, landscapes, and seascapes, including a series of paintings in Venice. In London he painted four series: the Houses of Parliament, London, Charing Cross Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, and Views of Westminster Bridge. He gave the world a superb record of the passing of time through his series of paintings. However the correct number is not known, over 2.500
Haystack at Giverny3
paintings, drawings and pastels have been attributed to Claude. A few of his works were destroyed or lost. He also struggles in the last years of his survival. Claude also told a friend that he wishes to destroy all his painting and disappear. He once also attempted to commit Suicide due to financial reasons. Despite his feelings of despair, he continued working on his paintings until his final days.

Monet’s Water-Lily Blooming Forever

Monet’s final series was focused only upon the Picturesque Water-Lily Pond which he created on his Property in Giverny. He died of lung cancer on December 5, 1926 at the age of 86, wealthy and well respected and is buried in the Giverny church cemetery. Monet had insisted that the occasion be simple; thus about 50 people attended the ceremony. Over his last 30 years, he painted about 250 oil paintings. In spite of having
Water Lily Pond
a severe cataract, with his limited vision he could remarkably paint accurate details. Shortly after Monet died the French government installed his last water-lily series in specially constructed galleries at the Orangerie in Paris, where they still remain…!

Today the Brilliant Artist may not be with us, but his Vibrant Work would survive forever. He one said “My only merit lies in having painted directly in front of nature, seeking to render my impressions of the most fleeting effects”, which is beautifully true! He broke the old Conventions of Paintings. Since 1980, Monet's Giverny home has housed the Claude Monet Foundation.
